Anyone ever use one of these or remember them?
FriendProject was a social network designed to look like MySpace 1.0, which launched pretty successfully. But, the servers were too slow and everyone abandoned the site before they could get their shit together. Now it's almost completely empty.
WhatEgo was around when MySpace 1.0 was around, and was actually way nicer.
It had a chat, savvy lil pre-hipster moderators, a very welcoming community, and i guess the lead singer of The Plain White Ts was a big part of the community too! No fucking clue what happened there. They just spun out of control and dont exist now, sadly.
VampireFreaks i think is where i hit rock-bottom when it came to social networking, but the people there were so awesome. Well, kind of. It had good servers, kinda looked like a forum, but the layout at the time was up to par with it's competitors. One thing I didn't like about it was that i said "nigga" in the chat and i got banned for being racist, even though "nigga" isn't derogatory. OH WELL they got overrun by creepy old dudes and shit anyways.
Still eerie to think about how well these sites did and all died in a blink of an eye.
